My friend Heather Ostler just released the third installment of her ShapeShifter Series - The Secret of Darkwood Castle. I haven't finished my copy yet, but I when it arrived from Amazon I got so excited since I loved the first two books of the series so much - (The Shapeshifter's Secret, and The Siren's Secret.)
With these books, Heather has created a fantasy world that is completely original, and completely intriguing. A lot of people read her books for the romance and the action - which are so well done, but my favorite thing about the story are the deep and complicated familial ties. Julia has a complicated relationship with her father but even more so with her mother. I can't wait to see what Heather does with the third book!
One more thing about Heather - we actually grew up together - elementary through high school, but we never knew each other very well. She published her first book through Sweetwater (which is where I am publishing Star of Deliverance) and has been so helpful and supportive to me through this entire process. She's not only a brilliant writer, but a very good person - which goes a long way in my book. She's really as nice as she seems, and I am so grateful to her for her kindness!
